CBD is also for domestic animals!
You're tired of seeing your pet suffer or you don't know how to solve their behavior problems? CBD can solve many problems in the dog, cat or horse.
Here’s everything you need to know.
CBD and animals
Cannabinoids act on the endocannabinoid system that regulates many physiological processes of the body. This regulation system is common to all mammals.
CBD therefore has effects on a domestic animal comparable to what it produces on the human body. A dog, cat or horse can thus benefit from the benefits of CBD. You can give it without fear to your four-legged companion. Quality and poor THC cannabinoids will have no adverse effects on an animal, both in terms of health and behaviour.
Some veterinarians are beginning to recommend the use of therapeutic cannabis as a supplement to more conventional care. The use of cannabinoids in animals helps to solve both health problems (pains, vomiting...) and behavioural problems such as anxiety.
What disorders can be treated by giving CBD to its animal?
Excessive booby, endless groaning, unrighteous aggressiveness, unjustified leakage behavior etc.. Animals and humans can be subject to stress and anxiety. The sources of stress in an animal are varied: change of life (travel...), fear of separation with its master, etc.
As in man, CBD can then help the animal to be quieter. Cannabinoids are also useful for accompanying medical treatments in the animal. For example, the efficacy of medical hemp has been proven for the treatment of convulsions that affect between 1 and 5% of puppies. Another field of cannabinoid application in the animal: pain mitigation. CBD has shown its efficacy in the treatment of joint pain such as osteoarthritis in dogs or cats, sufferings related to certain diseases such as cancers or post-operative pains.
How to dose CBD for an animal?
CBD administered to an animal is most often mixed with its diet or drinking water. Many dog or cat owners choose CBD oil or CBD flowers infused easy to administer to a pet. The animals usually have a much more developed odorate than that of man. It is therefore advisable to choose a poor therapeutic cannabis in terpenes that will not disrupt the olfactory sense of the animal.
The main difficulty to solve when you want to give CBD to an animal is to find the right dosage. A dog, a cat or any other pet does not speak! You must therefore rely on his behaviour to debust the signs of improved behaviour and health. The dosage of cannabinoids also depends on the weight of the animal. To find the dose of cannabinoids that effectively relieve your animal, it is first recommended to choose a low dose of CBD.
A 1% CBD-backed oil is enough for a cat or dog. You can then start by giving a drop of oil a day before gradually increasing the daily dose until you see the well-being of your pet.
Finally, if your animal takes parallel medications, don’t forget to talk about it with the veterinarian. There may be interactions between CBD and certain drugs.
